CATRICE Absolute Matte palette review + FOTD

Hey guys!

Catrice came out with a bunch of new stuff recently and the first thing that caught my eye was the Absolute Matte eyeshadow palette.

My expectations weren't particularly high, because the only decent matte eyeshadows I own are from Too Faced and Makeup Geek (relatively high end). But I ended up being pleasantly surprised by these. They're smooth and incredibly pigmented (no patchiness whatsoever!).

You get 6 eyeshadows, all completely matte and a double-ended applicator with a sponge on one end and a brush on the other (which is surprisingly soft might I add).

Shade 1 is a matte white. Sheer but very buildable.

Shade 2 is a soft baby pink, great as a highlight.

Shade 3 is a matte greyish light brown.

Shade 4 is a warm light brown.

Shade 5 is a warm brown, that can get quite dark if you apply a few layers.

Shade 6 is a dark grey.

Here's how I chose to use these shades the first time I played around with it.

As always, I started of by applying the Urban Decay primer potion all over my lids. I then applied shade 3 in and above my crease as a transition shade. I swept shade 4 all over my lid and slightly into the crease. I darkened up my crease and outer corner with shade 5. I lined my lower lash-line with shade 6 and then blended that out with shade 3, which gave a really nice smoky look.
I highlighted my inner corner and brow-bone with shade 1 (very lightly).

On my face I used the new Catrice Velvet Finish foundation (030 sand velvet) and the Bourjois 123 Perfect CC eye cream (23 golden beige) under my eyes. I set everything with the Catrice All Matte Plus powder (030 warm beige). I used my Essence matte bronzer on my cheeks and as a contour and highlighted my cheekbones with the Catrice Prime and Fine highlighting powder (010 fairy dust).

I applied the new Catrice longlasting lipstick in the shade 070 Plum & Base on my lips and that was it.

I really like the new launches from Catrice and I'll be doing separate reviews for the lipsticks and foundation.
Overall I would really recommend this palette. If you're like me and love buying palettes but hate it when they don't have a matte highlight and transition shade, then this is perfect for you. It's really small and compact so you can easily take it with you when you go on holiday to fill the gap in some other palettes. This was a really great addition to my collection and I'll be posting more FOTD's with it as soon as I can.
