SPOTLIGHT SUNDAY: Easy, Healthy Snacks

Hey guys!

If you're like me, then you like to snack while you watch movies or study or write blog posts...or breathe...

Here are a couple of ideas for things that can replace the unhealthy, greasy and salty junk we usually go for.

Fruit and yogurt. So simple I had to google ''healthy snacks'' to come up with it. Cut up some fruit and mix it with greek or regular yogurt. I love using apples, mango, bananas and peaches. I like to add some flax-seed as well.

Raw veggies and hummus. Cut up some cucumber, peppers (I prefer yellow peppers), carrots, radish and start dipping! Here's how I make mine :)

Tuna salad. Tear up some iceberg lettuce, chop up cherry tomatoes and chuck in the tuna (I just use canned). Add a tiny bit of lemon juice and some feta cheese if you feel like something salty. I also wrote a blog post about one of my favorite salads, that you can read here.

A small amount of almonds, pistachios or cashews (they're full of healthy fats but can be very high in calories so make sure you only eat a few).

A green smoothie. Wash a handful or two of spinach and chuck it in your blender. Add some peaches, mango, berries or any other fruit you feel like using. Add some coconut water or regular water and blend, blend, blend! Here's my favorite green smoothie.

A green juice. A green juice isn't as sweet or filling as a smoothie, but they're much healthier and really refreshing. I use a medium sized cucumber, 1 lemon, 1 lime, 2 -3 apples, a small chunk of ginger and celery (if I have it, you can't really taste it so it's okay if you leave it out). I don't have the best juicer in the world so I cut off the peel of the lemon and lime, however if yours can handle it and your fruit is organic you can chuck them in with the peel (it's full of healthy goodness!!).

Avocado on whole-wheat toast is great if you're particularly hungry or you just got back from the gym. You can also use peanut or almond butter (unsalted and without added sugars). Again, this option is full of healthy fats but high in calories so it's best after workouts or in small amounts.

I hope you guys enjoyed this week's #spotlightsunday and I hope you try some of these snacks. I've really been trying to eat healthier and these have been great at taming my late-night cravings ;)
They're also great if you just started trying to lose weight and want to start gradually.

When it comes to getting healthier doing a little bit of something is always better than doing a whole lot of nothing.
