Kindle VS Books

Hey guys!!

If there's one thing I'm guilty of, it's being a book worm. I have to be very careful about starting a book, because I have trouble putting it down once I get into it.
I recently bought a Kindle and have been using it quite a bit so I finally feel comfortable with sharing my opinion with you.

I learned to read when I was about four years old and honestly I haven't stopped since.
Then about a year ago I was starting to notice that every time I started to read it put me to sleep instantly. I know for most people that's normal, but for me? I have trouble sleeping with an unfinished book waiting for me!
So I basically stopped reading for a while and when I took it up again, the same thing happened.
And that's when it hit me.
I was straining my eyes too much. I asked my doctor and she told me to simply get some eye drops and hold off on reading for a couple of months.

Then I tried my friends Kindle. And my world flipped!
I always said that nothing can replace the feeling of a book in your hand, the satisfying feeling of turning a page or closing a book once you've read it. And don't even get me started on the new book smell. That's like heroin to me.
And honestly I still stand by all of those statements.
The only difference is that since I bought my Kindle I've read 8 books (I just started the 9th one) and I haven't felt sleepy once!

I decided to google things a bit and it turns out that a lot of people have the same experience. As far as I've been able to figure out, it's because the contrast between the letters and the white background isn't as strong as it is in books.
Oh and before you ask - you have to be in a lighted area to use a Kindle (it's not lighted from within so reading in the dark is not an option) so your eyes aren't getting damaged as they would if you read on your phone or computer.

So I'm officially a Kindle girl! I honestly couldn't be happier with my purchase and even though I miss the feeling of a book in my hands that I grew up with, I missed reading far too much to give it up again. The battery lasts me at least 2 weeks and I use it A LOT so that's not an issue you would run into often. Honestly - there are no negative things I could say about it.
