My Favorite Breakfasts

Hey guys!!

If you read my post about becoming a morning person, then you know that skipping breakfast is definitely not an option for me. I used to hate it and would avoid it at all costs. But after forcing myself to eat in the morning for a couple of weeks I noticed a MASSIVE difference and can't imagine starting my day off differently.



When I say I used to hate breakfast I mean it. I always woke up groggy and exhausted so the last thing I wanted to do was eat anything. I would simply brush my teeeth, wash my face, put on makeup and leave. Oh and get dressed...

But since I started eating breakfast regularly I feel so much better. I have more energy during the day, I don't feel as hungry later on and I actually stopped craving junk food as much as I used to.
I'm really trying to get into the whole ''big breakfast, medium lunch and small dinner'' thing and honestly it's been hard. Lunch used to be my biggest meal and changing a habit you had your whole life is a freaking battle.

Anywaaaaaaaay...enough rambling! Here are some of my favorite breakfasts.

1. PORRIDGE (with English breakfast tea)

This is one of the easiest breakfasts there is. You add 2 cups of milk to 1 cup of oats and cook it until it reaches your desired thickness. I like it quite thick so it takes me about 10-15min to make it, however that's still a quick and easy breakfast. I usually add some fruit (a banana, apple or pear work great) and a drizzle of honey. And you know that I'll skip my morning cup of tea when hell freezes over!

2. SCRAMBLED EGGS AND TOAST

You know how to make this...or your mom does :P

3. POACHED EGGS AND TOAST

I made this for the first time a couple of weeks ago and OH MAN have I been missing out!! Seriously how have I survived 21 years without these!!
So basically your water has to be simmering (NOT boiling). I usually swirl it up with a spoon and then drop my egg into the swirling water which makes it wrap around itself (the egg on the left worked out much better than the one on the right). I then scoop it out with a spoon, place it on my toast and top it of with some salt.

4. THE BREAKFAST WRAP

Hard boil 3 eggs, let them cool and them mix them with some cream cheese (it's going to look a bit like vomit). Spread that on your (whole)wheat tortilla and top it off with fresh spinach and whatever else you want. I usually prefer chicken breast but I only had ham so I used that. I also like adding cucumbers and peppers. Them roll it up, wrap it in clean film and store in the fridge. I was able to make 5 of these.

5. GREEN SMOOTHIE

I loooooove smoothies. For this one I useed frozen spinach, frozen mango, a banana, ground flax-seed, coconut water and spirulina algae (optional).
First I blend everything except the flax-seed and the algae. Then I add those two ingredients and blend until it's completely smooth. I like adding the spirulina algae, because it's full of protein, iron and amino-acids and I like having some form of protein in my breakfast to keep me going until lunch. Plus, it makes your smoothie turn a kick-ass green color.

 6. BERRIES AND YOGURT
It's (nearly) summer time and for me that means one thing and one thing only!! OUR GARDEN IS BURSTING WITH STRAWBERRIES, RASPBERRIES AND (a new addition) BLACKBERRIES!! And because I have the best aunt ever, she gave me 2 huge bowls of blueberries!!
Chuck them all into a bowl, add other fruit if you want to (I went for apricots) and mix them up with some greek yogurt (I forgot to take a photo).
You can mix this up any way you want to, use different fruit, add nuts or seeds or just whatever!
