My Thoughts on HEADSPACE

Hey guys!

As most of you know by now, I've been dealing with depression for most of my life. I've tried therapy and it didn't work for me, so I had to rely on myself to get better.
Recently I've heard people talking about an app called Headspace and decided to give it a go.

I've never really liked the idea of meditation, I thought that the only way to do it was to be in complete silence, shut out your surroundings and clear every single thought from your head.

My brain is like having 57986457 tabs open at the same time.
Seriously, last week my mind went from Tom Cruise to baby ducks in a 4 seconds long train of thought.
So that kind of meditation never worked for me, but I always knew I desperately needed to make room in my head for the things that ACTUALLY matter (not that marrying Tom Cruise isn't an absolute priority).

And that's when I found out about headspace.
It's a form of guided meditation, created by Andy Puddicombe and it's like nothing I've ever experienced before.

I recently finished the Take 10 series and if I understood it correctly, it's not about keeping your mind completely blank and shutting out everything around you.
It's more about becoming aware of your body and mind. Focusing on different feelings (physical and emotional) and clearing out the ''junk'', or as I've decided to call it spam thoughts.

I was expecting it to be a whole lot harder than it actually was. It wasn't easy by any means, but you learn to control the spam and focus on what you should.

I always did it right before bed and I was amazed at how fast I fell asleep afterwards. My entire body was so relaxed and I firmly slept through the night every time (which is something new).
I found that doing it before bed also helped me find out what exactly was stressing me out, because my thoughts would constantly try to sneak back to that and thus (I feel so posh right now) it helped me figure out how to solve that issue, without it affecting everything I do.

I really have noticed an incredible change and I can't wait to start the Take 15 series.
The trial (Take 10 series) is completely free, however, if you want to continue then you have to pay a monthly (yearly) subscription.
